Mustang Stock Suspension Fox Body Coupe

Drag Radial-EZ Street-Grudge Racing

Clint who resides in Louisiana (Disaster Area from Hurricane Katrina) sent us his coupe for:

NHRA 25.5 Chromoly Roll Cage

Tubs

Bridge Racing Rear Suspension

Front Suspension

Mount Engine/Trans

Custom Turbo System (Hot & Cold Side)

Clint is ready for us to start on the next step of this build which is a Bridge Racing Custom Turbo System.

First off we will be mocking up the turbo placement so we can then start on the custom turbo headers.

We will be designing & fabricating this Turbo System so that we hide as much of the tubing/plumbing as we can for a nice clean, simple look when done.

On to the seat mounting/bracing and once that is complete it will be on to the rear of the vehicle: Water cell, fuel cell, 16V battery mounting, on/off switch, etc. Then everything else!

More progress... When running a large wing unless you have an access panel it is a pain to do the fuel/ice so we have decided to do a bit of modifying.  The wing will remain in place but the trunk will be removable with zues fasteners.

A few other items have been accomplished: Clint came by to have a seat in his hot rod (the smile says it all), AMS1000 mounting, Gauges in the dash cluster, smooth nose has shown up, with the speeds these drag radial cars are exceeding now (200 mph) we wanted to make sure the nose had no chance of caving in not only that the nose is quickly removable for loading in the trailer or swapping of the turbo/maintenance. The structure actually doesn't weigh hardly anything being all aluminum. And some wiring blocks...

It's amazing how much wiring there is in these things.

Down to the bare shell and a good wash out.

Front suspension gone.

Rear suspension/diff gone.

There's 25 lb's gone just in the front bumper support.

Starsky & Hutch: I think it might be time for some tubs.

Starting on the tubs. We are going to make them large enough for a 10.5W but we are keeping her stock suspension for Drag Radial races. (A)

Starting to size up the sheet metal (A).

Just waiting on the diff to arrive.

Goodies are starting to arrive so we can get back in to 'Katrina Koupe'

Mock up of the rear end: To get everything exactly where we want it we are going to have to narrow it before we start on the tab geometry.

Roll cage: Rear bars starting to go in (A)

(B)

Starting on the chute mount/floor bracing.

Narrowing the rearend (A)

Starting on the lower control arm bracket geometry (A)

Ends going on.

This is what a Stock Suspension fox body Mustang looks like with a 31.0/10.5-15W slick on a 15x12 rim :) (A)

(B) I don't think we will have much trouble fitting a 315 radial in there.

The Steve Petty built small block Ford has shown.

Drag Radials Mounted.

Radials on and she's finally rolling around the shop (A)
